Ranges from our own estimates on Whatcom County homes. Your house will land inside one of these lines, and the walkthrough tells us which.
| PROJECT | TYPICAL RANGE | WHAT IS IN IT |
|---|---|---|
| One bedroom, walls only | around $850 | Two coats on the walls, nail holes patched, furniture moved and covered. |
| Living room or great room | $1,200 to $2,500 | Bigger walls, taller ceilings, more cutting in around windows and trim. |
| Ceilings | add $250 to $500 per room | Flat ceiling paint, usually one coat over white that is still in good shape, two over stains or a color. |
| Trim, doors and baseboards | add $300 to $700 per room | Semi-gloss enamel on everything that takes a hand. Six-panel doors and crown take longest. |
| Three-bedroom home, walls throughout | $4,500 to $7,500 | Bedrooms, hall, living room and kitchen walls in one visit. The most common job we do in winter. |
| Whole home, walls, ceilings and trim | $8,000 to $12,500+ | Every surface in the house. Tall entries, stairwells and heavy trim push past the top figure. |
| Kitchen cabinets, full kitchen | $3,000 to $8,000 | Sprayed enamel on doors, drawers and boxes. Quoted on its own; see the cabinet page. |

The eight things that set your number
How many rooms, and how big
Walls are priced by the room, not by the square foot, because the work is in the edges: windows, doors, closets and corners. A small bedroom and a large one with two windows and a closet can cost the same.
Ceiling height
Eight-foot ceilings are a day's work per room. Vaulted rooms and stairwells mean planks, ladders and sometimes scaffolding, and the price follows the setup time.
How we paint tall walls and stairwells βTrim and doors
Enamel on trim is slower than paint on walls. A room with crown molding, wainscoting and six-panel doors takes about twice the brush time of one with plain baseboards.
The condition of the walls
Nail holes, dings and small cracks are part of every job. Water stains, failing texture and larger drywall damage get repaired first and priced as their own line so you can see it.
Drywall repair and repaint βColor changes
A similar color over paint that is in good shape is two coats. Going from a deep red to white, or from white to a dark accent, usually means a primer coat or a third coat, and the estimate says so.
Paint and sheen
We spec Sherwin-Williams by room: washable matte or eggshell on walls, satin in kitchens and baths, semi-gloss on trim and doors. Premium lines cost more per gallon and hold up longer to scrubbing and kids.
Choosing a sheen room by room βOccupied or empty
We move the big furniture to the middle of the room and cover everything, so you do not have to clear out. An empty house still paints faster, and that shows up in the price.

October through February is interior season here. The calendar is more flexible and booking in those months earns a discount, which is why the winter offer below exists.

Straight answers on price
How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?
Most interior projects in Bellingham and Whatcom County run $1,200 to $12,500 and up, depending on room count, ceiling height, and trim detail. A single room is usually around $850; a full whole-home repaint lands at the high end. Estimates are free, itemized, and in your inbox within 48 hours.
Do you charge by the square foot?
No. We quote the job: which rooms, whether ceilings and trim are included, the condition of the walls, and the colors. Per-square-foot numbers hide the things that actually set the price, like ceiling height and trim.
Is the paint included in the price?
Yes. Every estimate lists the product and the number of coats, and the price you sign is the price you pay. There is no materials surprise at the end.
How long does it take to paint a room?
A typical bedroom takes one day; living rooms and kitchens with lots of trim take one to two days. Whole-home interiors usually run three to seven working days, and your written proposal gives you the schedule.
Do I need to be out of the house?
No. Most families stay put. We work room by room, use low-VOC paints, and most rooms are back in use the same evening.
Can I spread the cost out?
Yes. Through Wisetack you can split a project into monthly payments, with terms from 3 to 60 months and no prepayment penalty. Ask for it with your estimate.
