Why Lynden Homeowners Choose a Local Painter
From the Dutch-inspired storefronts on Front Street to farmhouses and newer developments across town, Lynden homes get painted with the care this town expects. Our wet Pacific Northwest weather is hard on paint, so every proposal starts with prep.
Wet winters and damp Whatcom County air accelerate mildew and coating failure, especially on north-facing and shaded walls.
Lynden has plenty of homes built before 1978, where old coatings need careful, lead-safe prep. As an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm, our crews handle scraping and sanding on older siding the safe, legal way — and we schedule every exterior around real Whatcom County weather windows.

Painting Homes in Lynden
From the Dutch-heritage downtown to farmhouses and newer developments, Lynden homes take full exposure to northern Whatcom County's wind, rain, and frost.
This is a town where curb appeal is a community value — from Front Street's Dutch storefronts to the immaculate farmhouses on the outskirts, Lynden work has to meet a high neighborhood standard, and we like it that way.
From Squahalish to Front Street: A Short History of Lynden
Phoebe and Holden Judson settled here in 1870, on Nooksack land near a village called Squahalish. Phoebe took the name from a poem, Thomas Campbell's Hohenlinden, and swapped the i for a y because she liked the look of it better. Her statue stands at Front and 6th today.
The valley was logged through the 1870s, and once the log jams on the Nooksack were cleared, the cleared land turned to farms. A road to Whatcom opened in 1875, the railroad followed about ten years later, and Lynden incorporated on March 16, 1891. After the First World War the raspberry, strawberry, and blueberry fields came in alongside the dairies and poultry farms that still frame the town.
Dutch families arrived in numbers through the early and mid 1900s, and by 1995 the city counted 28 Dutch churches. The Dutch storefronts along Front Street are newer than they look: the town leaned into that heritage in the 1980s, along with Holland Days each spring and Sinterklaas in December.
For a painter, Lynden is two towns. The century-old farmhouses and the Front Street blocks want scraped, primed wood and plaster-smart interior prep. The newer subdivisions want clean cut lines on big drywall walls and a good topcoat over fiber cement. Valley weather is wet and the wind carries farm dust, so every exterior starts with a wash.
