About This Project

A Lynden home whose paint problems turned out to be siding problems: the area above the garage needed new James Hardie board with proper Z-flashing, more trim needed replacing, and the exterior doors and porch railings all wanted attention in the same pass.

Carpentry first — Hardie siding installed above the garage with Z-flashing, failed trim replaced — then the full exterior went on in Duration Low Lustre, Sherwin's heaviest-bodied exterior paint, with the eaves and gutters run in the trim color and corner trim in the body color for a tailored look. The front door was finished in Emerald, and the porch railings got Tricorn Black in SuperDeck solid stain. Deck damage from the work area was repainted before wrap-up.
