Why Birch Bay Homeowners Choose a Local Painter
Beach cottages, vacation rentals, and year-round homes β Birch Bay properties live with salt air, and their paint has to. Our wet Pacific Northwest weather is hard on paint, so every proposal starts with prep.
Salt air and marine moisture are tough on exterior coatings here, accelerating mildew and early failure on exposed walls.
Birch Bay has plenty of homes built before 1978, where old coatings need careful, lead-safe prep. As an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm, our crews handle scraping and sanding on older siding the safe, legal way β and we schedule every exterior around real Whatcom County weather windows.

What Our Customers Say About Us
"Hilltop Painting did a fantastic job painting my house. They were professional and detail oriented. I would recommend them to anyone. Iβll be using them again in the future!"
"I was so happy with the results of hilltop's work and the painter, Carlos, was great. They treated me very good. I'm a 74 year old woman who gets a lot of prejudice because of my age and with hilltop that never took place."
"We had a fantastic experience with Hilltop Painting. The crew was very professional, thorough, and they did an excellent job. We felt like we were in good hands every step of the way. They completely transformed the exterior of our home, and the results are beautiful."

Painting Homes in Birch Bay
Birch Bay's beach cottages and vacation homes face salt air, wind, and sun off the water β a tough combination that punishes shortcut paint jobs.
Birch Bay properties work harder than most β vacation rentals can't be offline long, and the bay's salt spray tests every coating. We've built our process here around fast turnarounds and marine-tough products.
From Say-wak to Summer Cottages: A Short History of Birch Bay
The people who lived here first called the place Say-wak, meaning people saved from a flood by building a raft. One of the largest archaeological sites in the area sits inside Birch Bay State Park.
Spanish ships out of Mexico charted the bay in 1791 and called it Puerto del Garzon. A year later George Vancouver's expedition anchored here for several days, and the botanist Archibald Menzies renamed it Birch Bay for the birch trees along the shore.
For most of the 1900s Birch Bay was a summer place of cottages and cabins. The 2000s brought condominiums and vacation homes for buyers on both sides of the border, and the population roughly doubled between 2000 and 2020, to 10,115. That makes it bigger than every city in the county except three, which is why incorporation keeps coming up.
For a painter, Birch Bay is salt air and schedules. The bay side of any house needs mildew treatment, primer, and marine-rated coatings. Vacation rentals need to be back online fast. We plan both around the weather windows and the rental calendar.
