Why Acme Homeowners Choose a Local Painter
From cedar-sided farmhouses in the South Fork valley to newer builds along Highway 9, Acme homes face real Pacific Northwest weather. We paint here regularly — and plan every project around it. Our wet Pacific Northwest weather is hard on paint, so every proposal starts with prep.
Acme sits in the South Fork Nooksack valley, where damp air lingers and shaded walls grow mildew fast.
Acme has plenty of homes built before 1978, where old coatings need careful, lead-safe prep. As an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm, our crews handle scraping and sanding on older siding the safe, legal way — and we schedule every exterior around real Whatcom County weather windows.

Painting Homes in Acme
Foothill homes in the South Fork valley around Acme live with heavy rain and deep shade — moss treatment and breathable coatings are part of nearly every job.
The South Fork valley is beautiful, wet, and hard on paint. Acme homes need the full prep treatment — moss off, bare wood primed, coatings that breathe — and that's exactly how we quote them.
Named After a Hymn Book: A Short History of Acme
Acme sits in the South Fork valley of the Nooksack, between the North Cascades and Lake Whatcom. There are two stories about the name, both from 1887: one says Samuel Parks named it after a hymnal he owned, the other credits a resident named Parls and the local church's new Acme hymn book. Either way, the word means the highest point.
It never incorporated and never got big. The 2020 census counted 229 people, down slightly from 246 in 2010. What it has is farmland on the valley floor, timber on the slopes, and Highway 9 running through the middle.
The homes follow that pattern: cedar-sided farmhouses from the early years, mid-century houses along the highway, and newer builds on acreage, all of them in a valley that is beautiful, wet, and hard on paint.
For a painter, the South Fork valley is beautiful, wet, and hard on paint. Acme homes need the full prep treatment, moss off, bare wood primed, coatings that breathe, and that is exactly how we quote them.
