The Right System for Your Siding
Every siding fails differently in Everson weather. Pick yours — the prep, primer, and coating change with it.
Cedar & Wood Siding
Everson's classic — and its most demanding. Cedar moves with moisture, so the system has to breathe: oil or acrylic primer on bare wood, then two coats of 100% acrylic that flex through freeze-thaw.
What Exterior Painting Costs in Everson
Modest home sizes keep most Everson repaints friendly within the $5,000–$15,000 range. Where flood-era repair work is still in the picture, we quote it separately from the painting so you can decide each piece on its own.
The estimate is free and fully written out. Prep, primer, product, coats, each on its own line.
Coatings Chosen for Everson's Weather
Around Everson, coatings live or die by Nooksack-valley fog and damp morning air. We choose 100% acrylics that flex with the seasons and stay breathable, stepping up to elastomeric coatings where the surface needs them.
The difference shows up in years: cheap-and-fast can peel by year three, while a properly specced job holds 8–12 years on siding, 5–7 on hard-hit trim.
Prep Is Everything on Older Cedar Siding
The houses tell us how to prep: valley farmhouses and small-town main-street homes around Everson bring weathered wood, old coatings, and often pre-1978 paint. We handle it lead-safe (EPA-certified), treat the moss, and prime every inch of bare wood.
Paint over bad prep is a rental agreement with your own walls. We'd rather do it once.
Timing Around Whatcom County Weather
We paint Everson exteriors late spring through early fall, because coatings cure right on dry surfaces above 50°F and not otherwise. Wall sequencing follows the weather day by day.
If you want a mid-summer start, the estimate that secures it usually happens by early spring.

Ever Everson's River Town: A Short History of Everson
The site was a major Lummi village called Kwanech, with its own communal smokehouse, and the river crossing here was the principal one on the Nooksack. The town took its name from Ever Everson, the first white settler north of the river.
Dutch families settled the flood-prone valley and built the dairy farms that still frame the town, with berry fields and orchards alongside them. Everson incorporated on May 4, 1929.
It is still a small town of 2,888 people that serves the farms around it: a pharmacy, a grocery, farm supply, Riverside Park on the Nooksack. The river gives and takes. The November 2021 flood came through town, and a lot of the houses we paint here have been repaired since.
Outside, damp valley air pools near the river, so lower siding and skirting take the worst of it. We wash, treat, prime bare wood, and pay extra attention to anything near grade.
