Why Alger Homeowners Choose a Local Painter
From wooded acreage homes near Lake Samish to places tucked off the Old Highway 99 corridor, Alger homes face real Pacific Northwest weather. We paint here regularly — and plan every project around it. Our wet Pacific Northwest weather is hard on paint, so every proposal starts with prep.
Most Alger homes sit under tree cover, where walls stay damp long after the rain stops and moss and mildew get a head start.
Alger has plenty of homes built before 1978, where old coatings need careful, lead-safe prep. As an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm, our crews handle scraping and sanding on older siding the safe, legal way — and we schedule every exterior around real Skagit County weather windows.

Painting Homes in Alger
Alger's rural homes off Old Highway 99 sit at the forest edge, where shade, moss, and moisture demand careful washing and prep before any paint goes on.
Alger living means trees, lake air, and quiet — and siding that stays damp longer than town homes do. Our prep sequence here always starts with drying time, not the calendar.
Logging Camp on Old 99: A Short History of Alger
Frederick G. Abbey settled here in 1884, and Alger grew up as a logging camp on the old highway between Bellingham and the Skagit flats. It sits almost exactly halfway between Seattle and Vancouver, 76 miles from one and 66 from the other.
The camp became a working-class community along Old Highway 99, and the trees came back. Most Alger homes sit under tree cover now, on wooded acreage toward Lake Samish or tucked off the old road.
The Skagit Speedway has run Saturday-night races here for more than fifty years, a banked third-mile clay oval where Kasey Kahne raced before NASCAR. The 2020 census counted 507 people.
For a painter, Alger means trees, lake air, and quiet, and siding that stays damp longer than town homes do. Our prep sequence here always starts with drying time, not the calendar.
