Why Anacortes Homeowners Choose a Local Painter
Fidalgo Island weather is marine through and through — Anacortes homes need prep and coatings that shrug off salt, wind, and rain. Our wet Pacific Northwest weather is hard on paint, so every proposal starts with prep.
Salt air and marine moisture are tough on exterior coatings here, accelerating mildew and early failure on exposed walls.
Anacortes has plenty of homes built before 1978, where old coatings need careful, lead-safe prep. As an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm, our crews handle scraping and sanding on older siding the safe, legal way — and we schedule every exterior around real Skagit County weather windows.

Painting Homes in Anacortes
On Fidalgo Island, Anacortes homes face true marine conditions — salt spray, wind, and sun that break down ordinary paint fast. Marine-grade prep is non-negotiable.
An island town of boatyards, Victorians, and view decks — Anacortes homes face more salt than anywhere else we paint in Skagit County, and every coating we spec there is chosen with that in mind.
The New York of the West That Wasn't: A Short History of Anacortes
Fidalgo Island was Samish and Swinomish country, and the Samish Indian Nation still keeps its offices in Anacortes. The island is named for Salvador Fidalgo, the Spanish explorer who charted it in 1790.
Amos Bowman moved his family to the north tip of the island in 1877 and named the town for his wife, Anne Curtis Bowman. He promoted it as the obvious Pacific terminus of the Northern Pacific, the New York of the West, and started a newspaper to say so. Rail rumors set off a land boom from 1888 to 1890, the Oregon Improvement Company posted $15 million in bonds, and the town incorporated on May 19, 1891, the same year the bubble burst.
The railroad went elsewhere, and Anacortes turned to what the water offered: fishing, salmon canneries, and timber mills. Today the ferries to the San Juans and Guemes Island leave from here, and the 2020 census counted 17,637 people.
For a painter, Anacortes is an island town of boatyards, Victorians, and view decks, and it takes more salt than anywhere else we paint in Skagit County. Every coating we spec here is chosen with that in mind, and every old house gets lead-safe prep.
